The Journey, Part 9
First, I must express a sincere apology for my lack of commitment to posting. We have finally settled in sunny Lincoln. We'll have a computer very soon with internet access. Until such time that we've established connection to the world wide web and you, we'll have to resort to communicating the old fashioned way...the phone or by snail mail.
Thanks for keeping us updated on what's going on in your lives. I usually have 5-10 minutes to quickly check my email during the week so keep your posts coming!
We've been in search for a church for the past several weeks. Last Sunday, we attended a new church called River Tree. It currently meets downtown at Lincoln's Roccoco Theater. It was an unusual but encouraging service to say the least. There was an actual wedding in conjunction with their Sunday worship service that day! I've never heard of someone getting married during church, but believe it or not it worked perfectly.
Marriage is the greatest picture of Christ's love for his church. The pastor challenged us as married couples to reaffirm our commitment to God's gift of wedded bliss. He reminded us of the four rings of marriage. The engagement ring, the wedding ring, the endu'ring' and the suffe'ring ;) So far, Sarah and I have found that marriage does actually work if you work at it. It's gotten better every year. At the conclusion of the service, we actually had a chance to slow dance with our spouse! Icing on the cake!
In the past, Sarah and I have found comfort in the non-traditional approach to church. River Tree does feel like a nice fit. Our search could be over soon!
Well, Happy Thanksgiving and stay in touch!
