The Baby Story, Part 4
Sarah got to hold Maci for a couple of minutes, but then it was time to wheel her off to the Nursery. Being the proactive husband, after the nurse wrapped Maci up again, I took it upon myself to take her to the nursery. Upon my entry I was greeted with some wierd looks from the nurses. I quickly realized that I needed our nurse with me, I realized I had left her back in our room! Once our nurse caught up with me everything was back to procedure.
Maci was put into an incubator and that's when my world began to come apart. For the first time I had a chance to really look at her. Maci's stomach was snapping in and out quite a bit. I passed it off since this was my first time to the nursery. I had to go relay to Sarah what I had witnessed though.
Sarah and Jolena were great, I told them about what I had seen. They were certain that Maci was alright. I began to calm down again, but I had to go see her one more time. When I went back to take a look, Maci was still in the same condition. At that point, she still had not cried. There was a doctor in the nursery this time. They let me in to sit beside the incubator. I heard some of the discussion between the nurse and the doctor and their conclusion was she wasn't breathing properly. (dUh!) They needed to continue to monitor her. I ran back to tell Sarah what was going on. We took time to pray.
